The VSO proudly presents Sergei Prokofiev's masterpiece symphonic salute to the Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky, declared the greatest hero in Russian history. Prokofiev's cantata is taken from his 1938 cinematic work often referred to as the greatest film score in history.
A gigantic and bold vocal performance by our special guests the Oregon Repertory Singers guarantee a special and memorable concert. The ORS is an 80+ voice professional-calibre choir under the guidance of Dr. Ethan Sperry, Artistic Director. Nevsky also features guest artist, mezzo soprano Christine Meadows.
Both concerts will open with an Audience Choice selection selected by VSO concert attendees, followed by performances by our three Young Artists winners. In our 19th annual live-audience competition, judges selected three $1,000 cash prize Gold Medalists who will play their winning pieces for you. |
