Maestro in the Schools
Internationally renowned and critically acclaimed VSO Music Director and Conductor Salvador Brotons brings his passion for music education directly into classrooms across the Vancouver–Portland metropolitan area, working with local school bands and orchestras through the VSO’s educational outreach program. Highly sought after by schools throughout the region, these visits provide students with the rare opportunity to rehearse and perform under the guidance of an accomplished conductor whose mentorship inspires confidence, musical growth, and artistic excellence.
During the 2019–2020 season, this program was made possible through the generous support of the Firstenburg Family Foundation. On September 27, Maestro Brotons visited Evergreen High School, where he guest conducted both the school band and orchestra. The visit featured collaborative rehearsals, student engagement, and interviews with both students and the Maestro, highlighting the meaningful impact of arts education and professional mentorship on young musicians.
Watch for future appearances by Maestro Salvador Brotons as the VSO continues its mission to inspire children and families through creativity, music education, and meaningful artistic experiences.
