Who was Verdi- and why did he write a Requiem?
Our friend at @keepclassicalweird explores Verdi the composer, the story behind his Messa da Requiem, and what makes this monumental work so powerful more than 150 years later.

Watch the video, then experience the full force of Verdi’s Requiem live with the VSO USA, Portland Symphonic Choir, and four featured soloists on November 7 & 8.

Verdi’s Requiem doesn’t ask you to know Latin, understand classical music, or even come to it from a religious perspective.
It asks you to feel.
In this video, we talk about why Requiem is so emotionally accessible, and why experiencing it live can be so powerful even if you’ve never heard it before.
